Handheld Smart Devices and PDA's
Handheld Smart Devices and PDA's.

Handhelds finally live up to the promises we've been hearing for years. With these devices, you can carry in your pocket what essentially amounts to a machine as powerful as a five-year-old desktop computer. You can browse the Web, manage your e-mail and contacts, and run custom business applications, all on a device that weighs six ounces or less.

A smart device is any smart phone or PDA with an open OS platform, meaning that you can add new applications to it and aren't restricted to the programs it comes with. In some ways, smart devices do more than those five-year-old computers. Some of today's handhelds can play protected music files you purchased online. They can display videos and stream live television. Most importantly, since many of them double as cell phones, you can make and receive calls without having to carry a second gadget.
